Restorative Services We Provide

Dental restorations can rehabilitate or replace a tooth that has suffered from damage or decay. If you have a tooth that has been chipped, broken, developed a cavity, or been lost entirely, the right restorative dental solution can help bring your smile back to optimal health.

If you’re uncertain whether you need a restoration or not, one of our dentists will perform a thorough exam. We use various state-of-the-art tools and techniques that allow us to spot problems quickly and determine the most effective treatment to protect and preserve your teeth. Our restoration options include:

Do I Need a Filling?

Fillings are used when your enamel has been damaged by tooth decay. Removing the decay leaves the tooth weaker where the new space is, so a filling replaces the lost enamel, restores function, and protects against further damage.

Restorative Crowns

Crowns are complete caps placed over a reshaped tooth. They look, feel, and function as regular teeth while protecting against damage and decay.

As the sturdiest restoration option, crowns can protect teeth after severe decay or trauma, including cracks and worn enamel. They correct teeth that are too small, misshapen, chipped, or mildly misaligned. Crowns can last on average of 15 years and potentially longer with proper care.

Replace Missing Teeth with a Fixed Bridge

A fixed bridge is an affordable and reliable way to replace one to three missing teeth. Two crowns are set over healthy teeth with a custom prosthetic suspended between them.

Reasons to consider a fixed bridge include:

  • Restore chewing function and speaking ability
  • Complete an aesthetically pleasing smile
  • Stop adjacent teeth from shifting out of position
  • Upgrade from a removable device to a permanent one

What to Expect with Dentures

partial denture illustrationDentures have been around for centuries, and thanks to many innovations in the materials used and the fabrication process, they’re more comfortable and practical than ever before. Your dentures are uniquely crafted depending on how many teeth you’re replacing and their location.

Full dentures sit over the gums and replace an entire arch of teeth, held in place by suction or dental adhesive. Partial dentures are secured by metal clasps hooked over your remaining teeth, similar to a retainer, and can replace any number and configuration of teeth.

It does take time to get used to wearing dentures. Many patients experience some difficulty learning to speak and eat with their new dentures, but this becomes easier as they adjust. Clean your dentures regularly according to the instructions given by our dentist. Be sure to keep your regular six-month dental visits, and let our dentist know if your dentures feel uncomfortable or start to slip often.

Comprehensive Restorations with Dental Implants

dental implant illustrationDental implants are a permanent way of replacing missing teeth. They consist of a titanium post, an abutment, and a custom crown. An implant provides you with a completely new tooth, from root to crown. After the implant post is surgically placed into the jawbone, it integrates with the surrounding tissue to create a secure base for your custom prosthetic.

The post mimics a tooth root and provides essential stimulation to the bone. Rather than being secured to neighboring teeth for support, implants become a permanent part of your smile, leaving healthy neighboring teeth intact. Dental implants are easy to take care of and can be combined with crowns, bridges, and dentures to create a permanent restoration.

Benefits of Dental Implants

First, implants help stimulate bone, preserving the structure and shape of the jaw and face. Since implants mimic natural teeth, they also serve as an anchor for neighboring teeth and prevent any shifts in bite position.

Implants are also exceptionally versatile. If you have extensive tooth loss, strategically placed dental implants can support multi-unit restorations. Rather than having to deal with loose, uncomfortable dentures or the tooth reshaping needed for fixed bridges, you can enjoy the security of implants and the full coverage of a more extensive restoration.
