Dr. Charles Straughan
Dr. Straughan is a general dentist who was born and raised in Statesboro, Georgia, a small town outside of Savannah. He graduated from Statesboro High School as Valedictorian of his 2005 graduating class. From there he headed to Athens, Georgia, where he graduated undergrad as summa cum laude obtaining his bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Georgia.
His Start In Dentistry
He continued to pursue this profession at Georgia Regents University, formerly named Medical College of Georgia, College of Dental Medicine in Augusta, Georgia. He graduated from dental school in the top 10 percent of his graduating class, being awarded membership into the Phi Kappa Phi National Dental Honor Society. He went on to further his education at a one year general practice residency program in Charlotte, North Carolina, at Carolinas Medical Center Hospital. There, he increased his knowledge of endodontics, oral surgery, medically complex patients, and emergency patients.
Passionate About Community
Along with his background experience, Dr. Straughan has spent time being actively involved in the American Dental Association, staying up-to-date on policies and changes throughout the dental field. He has also been involved in Medical Campus Outreach, a program that reaches out to the community domestic and abroad. He went on two mission trips to Trinidad and Africa to help those in need without access to any form of medical care. He has been an active participant in Missions of Mercy (MOM) clinics in Georgia and North Carolina for underserved patients.
Staying Up-To-Date
He has spent the last two years practicing in North Carolina, where he started his own company called Alliance Dental Group. He has continued to be active in continuing education courses, staying up-to-date on cutting-edge technology. He will be able to provide many services here that were not previously offered, creating a very comprehensive treatment for patients.
Fully Certified Dentist
In recent years, Dr. Straughan has always wanted to move back to the Charlotte area after his residency. As a result, he credentialed for dual board certification that certifies him to practice in all 50 states of the United States. He is certified in Invisalign, practices implant placement and molar root canals as well as staying active with current technology on restorative dentistry such as the CEREC 3D crowns.
Dr. Straughan’s Life
He is married to his wife, Jessica, since May of 2018. They live in Charlotte and have a French bulldog puppy named Winnie, who comes to manage the office every couple of weeks. He is excited to work and serve in the Mooresville area as he spent a couple of months working with Dr. Tony Johnson and getting to know the area during his residency.
